AI search readiness checker

Checks a single public page, plus that domain’s robots.txt and llms.txt. Nothing is stored.

How the checker works

The tool fetches the URL you enter from our server rather than your browser, because browsers cannot read another site’s pages directly. It also requests that domain’s robots.txtand llms.txt. It then runs 28 rules against what it found and reports a weighted score.

Every rule is fixed in advance with a declared weight and severity. A pass earns full credit, a partial result earns half, and a check that could not be run — an unreachable robots.txt, a page with no images — is removed from the total rather than counted against you. That means the score is reproducible: the same page scores the same way every time, and any result can be traced back to the specific rules that produced it.

What the checker measures

28 checks across seven categories, weighted by how much each one affects whether a page can be found, understood and quoted:

  • Technical SEO basics 26 ptsTitle tag present and a usable length · Meta description present and not over-long · Canonical URL declared · Exactly one H1 · Language declared · Mobile viewport configured
  • AI crawler access 27 ptsPage is not set to noindex · robots.txt is reachable · AI retrieval crawlers are not blocked · llms.txt published
  • Structured data 27 ptsStructured data present · All structured data parses · Publisher identified in structured data · Breadcrumb structured data · FAQ markup matches a visible FAQ
  • Answer-first content 24 ptsOpens with a direct answer · Enough content to be worth citing · Headings phrased as real questions · FAQ or Q&A content present
  • Extractable structure 9 ptsHeadings used to structure the page · Heading levels do not skip · Images carry alt attributes
  • Trust signals (E-E-A-T) 13 ptsFreshness signal visible · Contact path present · Cites external sources · Social/AI preview metadata
  • Internal linking 7 ptsInternal links to related pages · Link text is descriptive

What it cannot tell you

Being honest about the boundary matters more than a bigger number. This tool reads the HTML your server returns, so it does not see content added by JavaScript after the page loads. It does not measure page speed or Core Web Vitals, does not assess backlinks or off-site authority, and cannot judge whether your content is accurate or genuinely better than a competitor’s.

It also cannot promise a citation. Structural readiness is necessary but not sufficient — being reachable and clear puts you in the running, and the quality of what you actually say decides the rest. If you want the parts a script cannot judge, that is what amanual SEO & AEO review is for. If the underlying problem is the site itself rather than the content, website redesignis usually the honest answer.

FAQ

AI search readiness questions

It is an automated audit that checks whether a web page has the structural signals AI assistants and search engines rely on when selecting a source: reachable retrieval crawlers, a clear title and heading structure, valid structured data, a direct answer near the top, extractable FAQ content, and visible trust signals. This checker runs 26 rules across seven categories and returns a weighted score with the specific fixes that would raise it.

No, and nothing can. There is no submission process, no paid placement and no control over which sources an assistant selects. What this tool measures is eligibility and clarity — whether retrieval crawlers can reach the page, and whether the content is structured so it can be understood and quoted accurately. A high score removes the obstacles; it does not purchase a citation.

Every rule has a fixed weight and severity declared in advance, and the score is the weighted proportion of achievable points. A pass earns full credit, a partial result earns half, a failure earns none, and a check that could not be run is removed from the total rather than counted as a zero. There are 28 rules totalling 133 points. No machine learning or estimation is involved — the same page always produces the same score.

No, and conflating them is a common and costly mistake. GPTBot is a training crawler; OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User are retrieval crawlers that fetch pages to answer live questions. You can opt out of model training while remaining fully citable in AI answers. This tool checks the retrieval agents specifically, because those are the ones that determine whether you can appear today.

It analyses one URL at a time from the served HTML, so it does not evaluate content injected by JavaScript after load, page speed and Core Web Vitals, backlinks or off-site authority, or whether your claims are actually accurate. It is a first-pass structural audit, not a substitute for a human review of your content and competitive position.

No. The page is fetched, scored and discarded — nothing about the scan is saved. If you choose to unlock the full report by entering your details, those details reach us as a normal enquiry, and that is a separate, deliberate step.
